Kerry’s Place Autism Services is Canada’s largest service provider to families with children, adolescents, and adults, with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Since 1974 Kerry’s Place has been creating, and providing evidence-based supports and services across the province of Ontario that enhance the quality of life of those with ASD.


Dana Whitehouse, Coordinator of Services and Supports, has been working in the Development Services sector for 14 years. Dana joined Kerry’s Place in 2011 as part of the ABA Services and Supports program working with children and youth and their families on short-term goals in the areas of social skill development and behaviour change. Dana has an extensive background in providing consultation and coaching to parents and caregivers of children with Autism. Since 2014, Dana has been facilitating workshops to parents and caregivers and has been heavily involved in creating content for workshops, sibling supports and programming for Autistic persons. Dana has a passion for teaching about inclusivity and educating parents and caregivers from the lens of neurodiversity.

Workshop

This interactive session will allow participants to embark on their journey of understanding Autism. Facilitators will challenge beliefs about Autism by introducing participants to common features and possible strengths of Autistic persons. Understanding and recognizing the varying needs and strengths of Autistic persons will empower participants to adapt their approach ensuring inclusivity. Understanding is just the start of the journey, and this training will plant the seed for further learning.
