Dr. Anita Ewan, PhD, RSW, RECE, is not only a devoted mother of six but also a distinguished professional in child education and social work. As a Registered Social Worker in Alberta and an Early Childhood Educator Level 3, coupled with her Ontario credentials as a Registered Early Childhood Educator, she boasts 15 years of hands-on experience with children, families, and communities.


Currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Alberta, Dr. Ewan holds a PhD in Social Work. Her present research interest lies in culturally responsive perinatal mental health service provision and care.

Workshop

This transformative session explores the powerful role of collaboration as anti-racist practice. Participants will engage in discussions and activities that underscore the importance of self-awareness, specifically in recognizing personal biases and preconceptions. We will also delve into the art of initiating collaboration effectively, while demonstrating how to preserve trust and facilitate healthy communication throughout conflict resolution processes. The aim is to empower attendees with practical tools for creating and fostering equitable social dynamics in their respective fields. This session seeks to unlock participants' potential to drive change and build a more inclusive space in the areas of child welfare, family support and community development, through collaboration.
